As the administrators of East Suffolk Council, we have always been proactive with dealing with environmental issues. I was delighted on behalf of the Council to draft letters which we sent to Anglian Water and Therese Coffey MP (Secretary of State for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs) to understand what is to be done.
It is imperative water quality issues are dealt with now not in 10- or 20-years’ time or even tomorrow. We must act today.
I am delighted to enclose a copy of letters received from Rebecca Pow MP for water quality and Pete Simpson CEO of Anglian Water. The quick response and detail of their replies clearly illustrates the seriousness of the issue, and I am very pleased we have good engagement, especially with Anglian Water.
I can assure you we will keep the momentum and I will discuss with officers how they want to take this further- I am sure our planning dept will welcome a strategic meeting so our sewage system continues to support our new builds and is fit for purpose for modern life. Equally I would like to also take Anglian Water’s offer of a meeting for a site visit and further discussion. I will investigate further.
