I’m James Mallinder, your Deben ward Member at East Suffolk.
As the past Cabinet Member for the Environment, I was instrumental in developing and delivering a strong environmental vision for residents and stakeholders. We leave a strong legacy which I will continue to protect and highlight.
I’m a member of the CEN (Conservative Environment Network), a wider forum that supports conservation and decarbonisation.
About me:
After working in the city, I moved to Hollesley some years ago for a change in priorities and to enjoy the high quality of life the area has to offer.
Working in Africa, Europe and Singapore, I enjoy working in different cultures and I am able to lead teams to make sure challenges and issues are resolved.
Over the years I have volunteered and worked in the local community and enjoy putting something back into society and helping others. I have great personal satisfaction in volunteering to be a bell ringer in Hollesley and I was honoured recently to be invited to the join the Suffolk Guild of Ringers.
Having always been aware of the natural world, I appreciate the Deben ward is a special area to live and work.
My priorities as your Councillor are to:
- Protect the Deben ward to make sure all council policies are evaluated on their environmental impact
- Maintain and improve river and sea defences
- Make sure any new housing is the right housing in the right location meeting the needs of residents
- Support local communities and parish councils in maintaining and improving facilities.
- Hold the administration to account to put the environment and residents concerns first , and make policy for the many not vested interests
- Continue to articulate residents concerns through the processes of local government , in particular social mobility and social responsibility
