Councillor Mark Jepson, Ward member for Eastern Felixstowe visited the Brook Lane Dental surgery in Felixstowe where he met the owner, dentist Dr Varsha Tulse to learn more about the surgery’s Tooth Fairy days for children which he contributed to through his Enabling Communities budget.
Early good dental care is essential to preventing unnecessary tooth decay. Dr Tulse explained that the money contributed had been used to purchase dental accessories and colouring materials to make the day informative and entertaining for children. Over two surgeries the practice has seen over 130 children aged up to 10 years old during the Tooth Fairy days. Dr Tulse said that by making the experience of visiting a dentist a pleasurable one she hoped that children would look forward to coming again rather than being nervous.
East Suffolk Council’s Enabling Community Budgets (ECBs) support activities delivered by community, voluntary and social enterprise organisations.
